The Meuhedet Health Insurance Fund was founded in 1974 as a result of the merger of the Amamit and Merkazit Health Insurance Funds. The Amamit Health Insurance Fund was founded in 1931 by the Hadassah organization to unite peasants and the agricultural workers' union to provide health care services to working settlers. The General Zionist Health Insurance Fund was organized in 1936 for Zionist workers to provide health care services to business owners and employees in the cities, and was subsequently joined by members of the liberal professions.
Meuhedet is the third largest health insurance fund in Israel and is working hard to increase its membership. Meuhedet consistently receives high ratings from insured surveys regarding customer satisfaction compared to other health insurance funds, and places particular emphasis on the provision of quality services and the high level of professionalism of its doctors.
The growth rate of the number of Meuhedet clients is the highest among all health insurance funds. Meuhedet provides services to more than a million members.

Meuhedet provides the following additional medical services (“shaban”):
Meuhedet Adif – a basic package of additional medical services, which includes a number of benefits and discounts in the following areas: medications not included in the Basket, postoperative rehabilitation, medical care abroad, diagnosis and treatment of infertility and others.
Meuhedet Si. – additional medical services, including treatment abroad, in the field of women’s diseases, pregnancy and childbirth, medical services for children, preventive medicine services and others.
Meuhedet Zahav – supplementary insurance for the elderly, which includes a range of care and cash compensation programs, treatment in nursing facilities, provision of medical care or supervision of a foreign worker in the home.
Meuhedet Hul – Meuhedet offers a range of insurance programs for trips abroad, “blue passport”, “golden passport” and “extreme passport” insurance.

Polyclinics – Meuhedet includes four regional departments and over 250 clinics located throughout the country.
Doctors – Meuhedet employs over 3,500 doctors throughout the country. Members of the Meuhedet health insurance fund can freely choose their attending physician.
Pharmacies – Meuhedet has at its disposal dozens of its own Meuhedet pharmacies and hundreds of private pharmacies throughout the country, including the Neopharm and Superpharm networks.
Laboratories – Most Meuhedet clinics have blood collection laboratories; In addition, there are several central laboratories to which tests are sent from all Meuhedet clinics.
Medical centers – Meuhedet medical centers offer services in various areas, such as: imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and others), child development, physiotherapy, women's health, diabetes, heart disease and so on.
Alternative medicine and pain clinics – Meuhedet has a number of clinics throughout the country that specialize in alternative medicine and pain treatment using various methods under medical supervision. Therapists at alternative medicine clinics and pain clinics are professionals with extensive medical knowledge.
